how to be a good blonde.!

How to be a good blonde.!

Hair care tips that I think really help (great for trying to grow it too)

So here is a quick history of my hair, I had Dark brown hair about halfway down my back and then two years ago I made the decision to go blonde, we did this as a process, by doing foils and more foils and more and more until my hair was super blonde, unfortunately all that bleaching caused my hair a heck ton of breakage. I started noticing it getting shorter and shorter (without cutting it) until it was probably 1 inch above my bra strap and I though enough was enough and we cut it to above my shoulders (arrrggghh.!!!) that was exactly 1 year ago, from that day I made a promise to myself to keep my hair healthy and its grown about 12cm in the last year. yay!!

heres my tips.!
Firstly I dont bleach the underneath quarter of my hair, from the top of ears down, no one ever notices even with my hair up an it ensures the health of the underneath which, lets face it, is where most of your length comes from, I stopped bleaching that after my hair cut to my shoulders so there is about 4cm of blonde on the ends, makes me remember how short it was.

Don't over shampoo, a lot of blondes wash there hair too much, the fact is blonde hair is normally finer so appears flat or regrowth tricks you into thinking you have greasy roots, shampooing too much can strip the natural oils from the hair, I tend to shampoo every 2-3 days. I use a dry shampoo on in-between days if i need too KMS MAKEOVER SPRAY.

buy a decent treatment, invest in a good treatment and your hair will thank you for it, if you find your roots get too heavy apply it away from the roots, treatments are super moisturizing, and help reconstruct hair, they also detangle and make your hair feel and look uh-mazing. I apply a treatment on my hair every time or every second time I was my hair, but once a week or fortnight will be enough,  I have two, morrocan oil intense hydrating mask and redken all soft heavy cream.

I personally condition every day from mid-lengths to ends with a nice thick conditioner.

leave in products, i love morracan oil light oil, (the light version is for blondes, win) I apply a pump of this through my ends of may hair everyday, for shine, moisture, detangling, treatment, defrizzing etc..

avoid hot tools,  I usually let my hair dry naturally if i can help it and don't straighten my hair very often at all. i have a few tricks for no heat curls (i'll get round to blogging them) or otherwise  let it do its own thing.

last of all HAIRCUTTING RULES, if your trying to grow your hair, like I have been. a hair cut every 8-10 weeks should do the trick, about 7mm should be heaps enough, especially if you do the above. Avoid chopping off more at awkward lengths, just remember the awkward stage will come back if you don't get through it, just trim it, you will feel fresher and new and even though it will still be awkward you will be happier.!
also if your hair is anything like mine (Fine) remember its only going to get finer looking with more length, think about the look you want in the future, don't chip out the length and do lots of layers now if you want long even thickish looking hair.

hope that helps. :)

forever21 haul/lookbook

HEY, so I had a bit of a spend up a while back at forever21 andy thought the best way to show you would be to do a look book with the items I got.

Sample Bar March!
Glam pack review

They always look so cute in there packaging. lets rip it open!

Hey beautifuls it's that time again already! boy is this year going so quick . I got home to find my march Glam Pack from www.samplebar.co.nz on the doorstep. It's always so exciting. Sample bar's Glam pack is a monthly subscription, they send you a selection of samples every month and you review them and get points to use on purchasing full sized versions. check out the website if your keen.

March theme is TLC time for some tender login' care after this summer months
DERMALOGICA PRECLEANSE
So I must start with this one today, i can't even explain how excited I was about this one, the other day I saw Saturdaynightsalrite haul video and she talked about this product and I use dermalogica as you know and I was going to order this next time I did a dermalogica order (www.dermalogica.co.nz) now I get to try this first. so excited.! this removes any build up and makeup from the day hand it works really well, I like the way it smells and it did remove all my makeup really well.!
Value: 10ml sample $5.60
SPA RITUAL BATH SALTS
So these are a couple of samples of bath salts designed to help reduce fatigue and sore muscles so you just add a scoop to your bath and boom.! but the cool thing I thought about these was that you can do a manicure/pedicure spa treatment with these so I might try them like that.!
Value: 2x 17g samples about $7
SCHWARZKOPF INSTANT VOLUME POWDER
Now this one… hmmm not sure how I feel about this one, I am a little biased, being a hairdresser I know a little bit about hair products and I don't tend to lean toward supermarket/drugstore hair products and also I am not a fan of powder volumizers, I haven't decided weather I will give this to a friend or keep it, they come in handy for hair ups. Ill let you know if i use it though.!
Value: Full sized $7.29
MODELCO EYE DEFINE BLACK EYELINER PENCIL
Another Model co product, this is a black eyeliner that comes with a sharpener on the lid, that's coo about model co they always think of innovative ways to I guess make everything so much easier, like the mirror on the lipgloss last month. Im not sure how well this last as it rubbed of my hand really easily but we shall see.
Value: full sized $26
GEOSKIN NIGHT REPAIR CREAM
So this is an organic night cream to repair your skin while you sleep, its enriched with essential fatty acids to help reduce skin degeneration (stop the skin deteriorating).
i am currently looking for a new night routine for my skin so this is awesome to try one from the range, let me know what your nighttime skin routine is. I need help.
value: full sized $43.92
All in all a good box, as per usual, at this point i am thinking a 4.5/5 I would have preferred something over the volumizing powder. I think the excitement from the dermalogica product has out weighed it this month
total value:89.81
